Date of Birth: March 18, 2002
Mom's e-mail address: milenamc@bigpond.com.au">

Joshua was born with multi-cystic dysplastic horseshoe kidney and has about 25% kidney function at present. He was diagnosed with I was 30 weeks pregnant, also my amniotic fluid had started getting a little low by 35 weeks. He was born at 38 weeks and weighed 2890 kgm, we were very lucky that he had not other major problems other than his renal function and we were discharted from Westmead Children's Hospital after two weeks.

Joshua is now just starting to eat solids and had a gastrostomy tube put in when he was 7 months old, it has been a struggle to get him to eat, he now is gaining good weight and is on the 10th percentile at the moment and we hope to get him to the 25th percentile (fingers crossed!).

Joshua's future will eventually lead to a kidney transplant and we hope it will be a long way off unhtil this happens. I hope to be the donor and a close match for him. Unfortunately his father is the wrong blood group. Joshua's creatinine now sits around 170 and we hope it will stay stable for some time.

Joshua's meds at the moment are Bactrim once a day, Racaltrol (vitamin D) once a week, Fergon (an iron suppliment) once a day and a multi-vitamin.

Joshua is doing exceptionally well and his nephrologist is very happy with his progress. Developmentally he is a bright little boy and has hit all his milestones. We love him dearly and could not imagine ilfe without this beautiful little boy, and has a gorgeous smile that just ilghts up his little face. He also has an older brother Jamie (4 years old) who adores and looks after him.
